Cyclofemme 2019 was a blast!
Thanks to all who joined us for a Reno Cyclofemme group ride and after-ride social on Mother’s Day! Downtown Patagonia Outlet staff were our gracious hosts, providing space for the event as well as healthy breakfast and coffee to get the morning started right. Volunteer leads and support riders made sure that whether Cyclofemme participants chose to ride an 2-mile out & back along the Truckee River, a 10-mile loop up the new and improved 4th/Prater to the Sparks Marina, or a challenging 20-mile road ride to Verdi, they were safe and got any mechanical help or encouragement needed. Our riders returned to Patagonia between 10:30-11, where DJ Sarah Cat was spinning records, and Patagonia again provided yummy sandwiches from House of Bread, free mimosas, and beer. We had lots of fun networking with Reno Bike Project, Edible Pedal 100, High Sierra Cycling, Tahoe-Pyramid Trail, Alta Alpina, and One Truckee River who came out to engage and educate about opportunities to ride with them. And everyone seemed to enjoy the raffle giveaway with prizes from Patagonia (they’re the best), Edible Pedal 100, Coalition Snow, Tahoe-Pyramid Trail, RBP, AMain, Alta Alpina, and Mesa Rim.Thank you to our volunteer ride leads: Crystal, Corby, Kate, Gen, Elizabeth, Sheri, Kim, Julie, Heidi, and Paige. Thanks to Bridget, who offered pre-ride safety checks. And thanks to Ann, Heidi, Jen, Jessi, and Paige for providing inspiring photos and stories of women leading in the cycling community!
We need you to keep this going!
As we announced at the after-ride social, we are looking for one or two individuals to take up the mantle of bringing Cyclofemme to Reno in the coming years, with two of our three event organizers leaving the area. Patagonia has pledged to continue their involvement and sponsorship of the event, and the Truckee Meadows Bicycle Alliance will provide support and contacts/materials from the past two years. If you are interested in running this event with their support, please send us an email.
